Meet the Photographer
Hi, I’m Laurel, and I’m hoping to inspire people to get outside and explore the beauty of the Columbia Valley (and surrounding areas). I want to showcase all of our beautiful landscapes and get creative.
I was born and raised in Jasper, so outdoor adventures have always been a part of my life. We did a lot of hiking/skiing/adventures as a family, and I’m happy to say I’ve been able to carry that tradition on with my own kids! We moved to the valley in 2018 as I’ve always been called to the mountains. I am looking forward to exploring and documenting with my family.

I’ve been a photographer since 2013, and my work has shifted from portraits and lifestyle to Landscapes and the night skies. In 2022, I had the opportunity to learn how to shoot the night sky, and from there I was hooked. I got to shoot my first Northern Lights shortly after, and my path became very clear.
I hope that my work will inspire you to go outside, take stock of your surroundings, and know that you can find beauty anywhere! Lots of my work has been from very accessible locations, such as a mountain scape shot from the Invermere Arena parking lot!

Laurel Ashley’s Photography Journey
2013
The first time I picked up a camera with the intention of turning it into a business
2015
I welcomed my first daughter and from that point on, my focus was mostly on lifestyle sessions with families
2018
We moved to Invermere, with a three week old baby girl and a toddler. I was back in my element being in the mountains.
2020
Was the tipping year, and I quickly realized I was on the right path when my re-ignition of hiking sparked my passion for Landscape and Astro Photography
